National Researcher Level 2 (SNI Nivel 2)

Biography

Francisco-Ronay López-Estrada earned his Ph.D. in Automatic Control from the University of Lorraine, France, in 2014. Since 2008, he has been a full professor at the National Technological Institute of Mexico, IT Tuxtla Gutiérrez, where he has focused on teaching and research in automatic control and its applications.

Dr. Ronay is a member of the editorial boards for Mathematical and Computational Applications and the International Journal of Applied Mathematics and Computer Science. He has published over 60 peer-reviewed articles in ISI-indexed journals and has presented his work at numerous international conferences. Over the course of his career, he has led several funded research projects, both independently and in collaboration with international institutions. He has supervised 14 master’s theses and four doctoral dissertations and is currently mentoring three doctoral students and two master’s students. Additionally, he has served as a guest editor for JCR-indexed journals.

In 2016, he founded the TURIX-Dynamics Research Group, which brings together researchers and students to develop diagnostic and control strategies for dynamic systems. His research focuses on fault diagnosis and fault-tolerant control, emphasizing convex LPV and Takagi-Sugeno models. His work has applications in areas such as electromobility, hydraulic leak detection, UAVs, mobile robots, and water distribution networks.

Dr. Ronay is also active in the professional community. In 2019, he was elected to the board of the Mexican Association of Automatic Control (AMCA), and in 2022, he chaired the National Congress of Automatic Control (CNCA).
